To be honest, I got really good grades, I study really hard, hand write all my notes and try to always challenge myself. However, listening to this conversation was still an eye opener, for a couple reasons. I've only been in school 6-7 months and took two 10-week classes on C#. They really just gave me the foundation, and the general direction of where to look for more information.
Python is something that I am still looking at from a black box perspective. C#, I know quite a lot about, but I am also still learning that too. Outside of school I just practice with it as much as I can. I try to take my assignments one step further every chance I get. I also don't expect to master it overnight, but hopefully in 4 years of pushing myself, I will get a lot better at it. I'm humble. I would never claim to be a master programmer at this point. I'm just a guy who sometimes knows how to make a thing do a thing, and I know who to ask or where to look when I don't know.
One of my favorite quotes is, "“If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you don't understand it yourself” (inaccurately attributed to Einstein) I at least got my nephew to understand how bits, bytes, and basic binary works. School just presents you the foundation for you to build on, and whether or not you build on it, relies entirely on the individual. The only time I use AI is to understand something or ask for feedback when I don't understand. I'm dyslexic, and so I have to really push myself to understand. I use all the tools available to learn, and I use them to learn, not do the work for me.
For example, I'll read my assigned chapters, throw those chapters into AI, have it given me an audio overview, listen to that, look up a video on YouTube if I'm still lost, and practice, practice, practice. I don't think everyone does that unfortunately. I guess I just know I'm taking on a lot of debt, and I want to make sure I understand what my degree is. I don't want to graduate if I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I'm actually pretty annoyed that my Database class requires me to use AI to essentially generate models based on the datasets they give us. It does like 90% of the work, and it's required. I don't honestly get that. So far, that is the only class I have had that is like that. This has forced me to supplement my learning with outside practice.
Your videos are pretty awesome. I just recently discovered them, and I am glad that I did. I'm trying to use your getcracked.io site, but I was having trouble with it not loading for some reason. I'll try again tomorrow, and if it doesn't work, I'll shoot you an email.
