One area they didnt cover was how increased dependence on AI puts us into cognitive decline. Hinton spoke constantly of AI as not only a very useful thing but an inevitable one & Bartlett didn't raise an opposition to that. I just don't get how everyone acts as if AI is great - and uses it. It might be quicker but it's at the expence of our own thought processes & abilities which are already being diminished. WE could vote with our deeds & not engage on all these platforms nor let the computer - nor the scan code - order our drinks etc. But we're being coralled into an abyss & in the main not electing to choose otherwise. It's the effects of the agressive marketing policies from silicon valley & the vacuousness of wanting to have the new toy every time, even when it is not to anyone's advantage bar the manufacturers.
