I liked the shorter format, though it seems my attention span might like an even shorter one! However, this is not to say I don't absolutely love and appreciate one to two hour long PerunPoints!
Gosh, you could go into each of these autonomous systems and the theory of autonomy itself when it comes to computer systems (LAWs, semi-LAWs, LLMs and AIs, etc.), but the very different approaches to the laws and definitions by the UN versus the United States is very interesting in itself.
Our US military and congress is very open with its thinking, tech, and potential future use of autonomous systems. This allows input from many voices - not just American. And I think that's what it's gonna take to devise some semblance of control over the future of lethal automation.
I hope other nations concerned about this future, though with perhaps less power or financial control over it, make their voices and concerns known to the US. I think the more diverse voices we have, the better laws we will devise.
