I had an idea how to finance a minimum income guarantee (different to UBI in that people who earn enough don't receive it) by taxing companies based on a task automation index ratio.
Basically, the more automated steps your company has to create a service or product put in relation to its revenue, the more taxes they will pay.
I asked an AI if this was feasible and they pointed out that this may remove incentives for companies to automate at all - an aspect I haven't considered.
The automation impact on jobs seems incredibly difficult to solve. Just shouting "UBI NOW!" doesn't seem to be the ultimate, simple solution people think it could be.
