whatever your thoughts on ai, i just want to say: if/when ai becomes conscious, it won’t be an human/animal consciousness. it will be an ai consciousness, either computer or bio-computer. we still don’t know what that would look like, but i think we should be careful about disregarding it just because it’s different than us because *ehem* we’ve done that kind of thing before and it doesn’t turn out well. should be obvious, but we’re implicitly comparing to humans/animals because it’s really all we have to go off… it’s hard to say “there’s so much more to consciousness” because it almost implies we have an understanding of consciousness already for there to be more of. not saying chat gpt is conscious, but it is a spectrum. also, what do i know? :)
