The use case for AI always was solely to increase profit by replacing workers. They never intended anything else. The "utopia" claims were always BS because those replacing workers never intended to share the resulting profits with the rest of us. Maybe a rare few did, but most just want to be living gods lording it over the impoverished masses and are lying to us to get us to be complicit in their schemes. Also, imo AI can NEVER replace human experience, judgement, and creativity. I've seen it used to help figure out protein folding and a few other medical/scientific applications, like trying to find new antibiotics, but that's all. For everything else it is imo more trouble than it's worth and ought to be banned from the non-science stuff.
