I'm no fan of AI. I had to work with it in my last job, and even the most basic questions will cause the AI's brain to explode. As far as AI art goes, I once messed around with an AI image generator to see what it was capable of. I went with the prompt "Superman fighting a dragon". Y'know, really, really, really basic stuff. After entering the same prompt unchanged, by the third iteration, Superman had dragon wings and the dragon was wearing the stylized "S" logo. That's worthy of an F- and a "See Me After Class" note. AI art quality sucks. I wouldn't bother with the business of trying desperately to get some toaster (I'm trying to turn "toaster" into a generally-recognized slur against AI) to bring to life the image I have in my head. Pretty much the only advantage AI has going for it is that you don't have to wade through a sea of artists open to commissions who just as openly _hate you._ AI doesn't get sniffy and triggered about accurately depicting historical racial demographics. AI doesn't whine about the male gaze when you tell it to draw a conventionally attractive woman. The AI doesn't call your prompt "problematic," throw it back in your face, and brag about having owned a chud on social media. See, _that_ is a threat to artistic expression: when all art has to be sterilized down to the point where it doesn't offend the sensibilities of avocado-toast-eating spineless wieners. And while there _are_ screwheads out there attempting to get AI image generators to be as whiny and petulant as the genuine article (like that laughable google AI image trend of blackwashed SS officers), that just increases resentment. To a lot of people, social cohesion is dead and buried. Anything that can replace having to deal with entitled, bratty forever-children is desirable... even if it means having to get one's art from a toaster.
