I am in IT since ~30 years, but more in the "conventional IT" (databases, ERP, ...) - if that makes sense. It is a mid size company with ~250 employees/workers that does build to order.
As of now, I still can hardly imagine how AI could take over most of the jobs, not even in the office (production is a different story). My experience is that even with the help of a modern ERP and consulting companies for its implementation it is rather challenging to implement sufficient IT support for the processes.
My current understanding is that for AI to take over the jobs of human employess, it requires
a.) accurate process descriptions (e. g. in BPMN) that handles all exceptions and/or
b.) a sufficient amount of data that allows for training of the AI in order to have it derive the rules for business processes on its own.
If both is _not_ available, I assume it will be close to impossible for AI to efficiently run the processes.
Am I wrong? 🤔
(This is a serious question, as I know merely some basics about AI.)
