You missed one very important thing behind all of this - techbros and conservatives behind this push not only don't really care about art, they don't know what art is. For them art means "a pretty picture", which is why they are upset by "ugly" art and entirely captivated by pure kitsch like the pre-AI slop the likes of Kinkade have been churning our, or all the random plaster ornaments stuck on artistically uninspired and technically trivial buildings (medieval neo-classical domes are kinda cool... because it was hard to make them without CAD and cranes). With this in mind; so called "AI" can deliver a pretty picture, while most real artists will draw things that upset them. Of course actual AI art might exist one day, no reason it couldn't (we're not special, brains are not magical). However, that would require an AI capable of developing an inner life, emotional and political, because that's what makes art art. We also know that's not happening with the current push for AI; it's a very hollow hype bubble scam bargaining on the fact that investors are not engineers, sociologists or psychologists.
