If what Dr. Roman says is correct about the speed of development, I think the race to full automation will be the only possible way to get rid of predatory capitalism, by letting it destroy itself. I do think Dr. Roman tends to skip a lot of important processes to arrive at a certain point. For example when asking "When 99% of jobs are gone, what will we do for our income and what will we do with ourselves", he give the impression that one day we will suddenly all be laid off, but that's not how that is going to work. There will be waves of mass layoffs for years and unemployment will first jump to 10%, then to 20%, the next year to 40%, etc and that will swiftly destabilize society. Capitalism will collapse because it eliminated all of its customers, and society will collapse because it relies on capitalism. THAT will be the point where we reach 99% unemployment and THAT will be the point where the left-overs of society will have to decide what to do: Either resurrect the system that brought us down or try something better. Hopefully humanity will go for the latter, which means they will let the robots work for all of society, not just a selected few billionaires. Income problem solved. Everybody can get whatever they need. That only leaves the question of what humanity will do with itself, and I think they will feel liberated for the first time in centuries, from the yoke that was put on their necks by making them think that a job, making someone else rich while you have to live on scraps, somehow gives life meaning. It's the opposite, being able to spend time with your family, with yourself, with nature and the people around you, THAT is what gives life meaning. It's what we did before capitalism tied us all down in debt and modern slavery, and we will do just fine with all that free time. It's a step closer to the paradise that this planet can and should be for its living beings.
