The current AI won't lead to the extinction of humans for one important reason, the current AI can best be described as Automated Intelligence, it's just a new way of processing lots of information. Ask ChatGPT questions and you'll discover lots of questions it cannot answer very well. Some stuff it gets right, but a lot of very specific questions it gets very wrong. Last night I asked it "list 5 letters words for bulb that don't have 'e' in the fourth position" ... 3 of the words it gave me had 'e' in the fourth spot, which means it really doesn't know what you're asking it.
