If a student gives the wrong answer on an exam, they get a failing grade. If an employee makes a mistake, they get fired. If an AI software agent makes a mistake, then "Oh well, it's just a hallucination". If an AP (Artificial Prezidunce) tells unTruths every day of the week, he will be reelected.
According to the ancient computer science maxim GIGO (Garbage In results in Garbage Out) regarding inputs and outputs, AI will suffer same problems we humans have in sorting out truth from falsehood, trustworthy information versus misinformation, disinformation, propaganda and B.5.
Click Web button after Google search to turn off Gemini AI. Follow the links, read the articles and decide for yourself. It will take you longer, you will be responsible for your own decisions and actions, but you won't be dependent on someone else's hallucinating AI bot.
BTW my solar installer last month mentioned that Google searches that include Gemini make additional backend processing requests and are using up more electricity. So your electricity bills will likely go up (some non-tariff inflation).
