consciousness lies in the interrelations of subject and object. without being a part of the larger consciousness you wouldn't be a subject of consciousness. this makes it an emergent or probably intrinsic property of creation though I feel skeptical AI could be more conscious than a worm in this moment, we'll have to see what other expressions of intelligence it is capable of beyond language models...
