People who think regenerative "AI" is evil don't understand regenerative "AI". Remember when digital art wasn't considered art? If I take a photo with my camera and put a filter on it, does that make it invalid as art? If I use a Wacom tablet with stabilized strokes and custom brushes, is that art? What about following a tutorial to create a scene in blender, using shader and compositing nodes. Surely that can't be art?
Regenerative image models is a tool like anything else, art is whatever makes us feel something.Bad art is still art, lazy art is still art and even "stolen" art is still art.
"AI" is problematic for sure but not people generating images to jerk off to. Nation states using it to spread misinformation to further their agenda is a far more pressing issue.
