22:00 Is this why we see so many masterful artists painting in such realistic ways at one point in their life, then as mental deterioration comes in to play their art usually becomes more abstract in its form? Are the neural networks of those individuals degrading and becoming less capable of sticking by the rules it taught itself whilst growing up?
On a slightly different tangent, am I benefitting or hindering myself when I, as a fairly creative person, deliberately try to view things in life slightly differently? It's really hard to explain but I'll give a random example....
...We're all so desensitised to how a human looks. It's what we were brought up around so think nothing of it. It would be distracting and inefficient to everyday go "isnt it funny you have a couple of eyes on the round thing?". I sometimes deliberately imagine a human but with parts of the body positioned in different places. It looks obsurd and almost grotesque I know....but why does it? Why should it? Isn't it also odd we have these living, moving, talking things with a hole in it where material is shoved, or a long thing that hangs off the side capable of moving around and interating with the world? Imagine a world where we've evolved to put food in in the middle of our bodies somewhere, or we had no mouth at the front.and speech was wired to come out near the top of the head. If that's what everyone looked like from birth you'd grow up thinking nothing of it.
I guess what I'm talking about is what people used to call opening your mind. I assume 99.999% of people have not thought about the human body in this way. Why would they after all? Thinking this way I believe is very good for creativity, but is it good for general mental health and being able to live and function is normal society?
Am I enhancing my neural pathways or in effect clogging them up with incorrect information to work off of?
Sorry, a bit of an incoherent rant, but hopefully some interesting points people can discuss.
