It has been a 100 years journey through great thinkers, and we have achieved barely a self intelligent AI. The AI Hinton refers (back propagation, etc) is simply nothing better than my dog does. AI is going to replace only repetitive tasks with small probabilistics tweaks. Which has been ongoing for a while already. Can AI make a new robot machinary used in manufacturing a new model of a car ? We have to see.
