There are problems with Telegram, but, to my knowledge, Telegram is not responsible for deep-fake technology, that fault lies on companies like Google. Deep-fake was never a good idea, even the most pure of heart and innocent people could not have come with a good use for such a technology when they first heard of it ('good' as in the opposite of evil). I could never understand why it was developed, and any server holding a capable deep-fake program in it should be purged. As for app like Telegram, that's a far harder hurdle to bypass. Technology like deep-fake and competent AI requires immense resources to create, be it in manpower, computing-power real-estate or other. Small apps like Telegram, however, can be written by one or two programmers in the span of a few months. All it would require is a vision, which is also not important because Telegram/WhatsApp/WeChat/Signal/Etc... already exist, and all one has to do is copy those. I remember some years ago (maybe 5?), I was thinking of the weird dichotomy of the Koreas. Ask anyone what's the worst country to live in in all of Asia, and the vast majority of people would answer North-Korea. Ask the inverse: What's the best country to live in Asia, and a lot of people, myself included, would answer South-Korea. Oh how stupid I was back then. What would I answer today? I don't know... Singapore perhaps?
