Kind of sad that the biggest argument for AI art, “it saves time and does art so people don’t have to,” inherently assumes that passion is dead and that people only do things for money.
I’m a programmer. I didn’t decide to be a programmer because I thought it would make me a lot of money. I became a programmer because learning how things work, solving problems, and designing systems for myself and others brings me joy. Sure, I’ll be able to make money off of my skills, but that’s not why I learned those skills. I learned them because I enjoy using them. Art is the same way, isn’t it? You do it because it makes you happy.
