Also you are severely underestimating knowledge sharing. Piracy is rampant, what makes you think we wont build a decentralized social media network. Bitchat is an example by jack dorsey, where you can literally communicate using bluetooth, and bluetooth has gotten really good at long transmit, and this way we can build a mesh to have thousands of people communicate.
The legitimacy of media is already downright horrible, i don't trust media at all anymore, its just bogus and owned by these corpo and political parties.
