I can tell you exactly why this happened. The managers and upper management heard AI believed the hype and fired everyone. Then realised the AI companies were just blowing smoke up their asses. I have been in on Amazon meetings were the managers spout AI vapor ware dreams and simply tell the workers to make it happen, they have no clue.
