I honestly have the same existential crisis related to this topic every time I revisit the game Detroit: Become Human. First of all, I really like the game. Second of all, it just makes me think about how something like that will probably become more possible as time passes, and that there really isn't a way to tell whether an AI has consciousness or is just simply imitating what humans have defined as the sort of "image" of consciousness (not sure exactly how to describe it).
