You answered the question! Obviously the second one! AI isn’t creating something new 95% of the time. Unlike a researcher, it is not synthesizing new data or conclusions. It just streamlines the information to you. While yes, a self processing/paraphrasing search engine’s SERVICE is novel, the content it’s using to deliver that service is not. A library buys its books, a DJ pays for samples, Artists get royalties, etc.
