Hmm ... "5 years to get from Junior to Senior developer"? What am I then with over 40 years of doing that on my back? On topic: I have so terribly much to do fixing or actually developing software that my clients have had "software developers" create that only (and by that I mean ONLY) used LLMs that I recently had my second burn-out in two years. It is absolutely insane to see how ZERO actual understanding of how the software that runs industries (VFX is my current slice) works on the inside is present in current days' "management" heads. And since they don't have clues, how could the developers be better (that, at the end of the ticking, get hired by HR managers)? "Nobody" understands what they are doing any more. They have NO CLUE, they just eyeball it and tell chattie to do the "heavy lifting". We already see Adobe software becoming completely unusable thanks to both AI on the forefront (userside) and obviously having been used to "program" the tools. Impossible to open a PDF "just so". Impossible to run Photoshop for longer than a few hours. The train wrecks on. I am really, really hoping that the "pendulum" this video mentions swings back soon. Not just because of payment - but because of the mental health those of us who keep on pulling the wagon off the ditch.
