I'm a software architect with well over a decade of enterprise experience under my belt, and I will say two things. AI is an incredible asset in my day to day work now, and I am SO grateful it didn't come out when I was earlier in my career. Why? Because AI does many things well, but without the experience and foundation I've built over the past decade, I wouldn't be able to know when AI is giving me a good recommendation or not, or how to probe and ask the right questions. AI still needs a human with good judgement and critical thinking to do anything important with it, and I definitely worry about the generation of software professionals that are coming up through the ranks behind me. If you let it, it makes you very lazy and kills your ability to think for yourself and truly learn anything. I'm sure the same thing applies to many other industries as well.
