Definitely agree, we are not remotely technologically close to knowing how to create consciousness. For the foreseeable future, the problem seems to be people being convinced it is conscious when its just a convincing imitation of us.
...That and the whole bad actors abusing ai thing (e.g. large scale misinformation bomb) and the fact that we are progressing technology so fast that noone is stopping to ask the ethical questions, or how we should use it responsibly.
