Driverless trucks don’t join Dutch auctions. I recall a TV series in the Staes where people bid lower to win a job - can work if you can end to end jobs safely. It’s part of using modern tech.
Reality is wages go down by standing still or low rises while renting/buying homes goes up out of control. Some countries can not get enough drivers for the job, some not bothering to take work in the UK from EU, even end to end due to Brexit red taping it so much - it’s only going to go one way, here, there, eventually everywhere.
