I hate that the idea that "clanker" was ever an anti-ai term actually got picked up by people.
It started as a joke slur for droids in the star wars fandom, then when it became a meme it was basically just edgy "what if racism but with robots" jokes that started going way too far and just became thinly veiled "haha look it's like slavery" or "haha jim crow but robot words."
then when people got called out on that shit some people tried to spin it as an anti-ai thing and all of a sudden out of nowhere I'm seeing people actually buy into that when it was pretty obviously not about ai before. Crazy how fast the popular narrative can change these days.
