It is a tough one. Bernie undersells the effect. 5 years out it will be a much bigger worker bloodbath than this.
But, the fear-hype about China is also a bit real. If China wins the AI race they will take Taiwan unopposed, and ALL America’s advantage will disappear overnight as a full 90% of it is built in Taiwan and American hegemony and the economic miracle of the American experiment would end in a hard stop.
But he is dead right. If you don’t have a government focussed on the little guy when this change happens we are all totally fv€¥ed.
If the present guy is in charge when it happens then we all know what happens to the little guy.
A robot tax is right. Robots are a force multiplier, but they should pay a tax for every hour they work, like a normal worker. This won’t stop the takeover, but it will give the government resources to reshape society.
Well done for speaking up clearly, Bernie. Your plans are sound in the round. Detailed policy will emerge over time but what is certain is that it will be a horror show bloodbath if it happens under the present admin with their billionaire focussed ethics and masked enforcers.
