I disagree with Charlie here. I think that it actually takes some “skill” to be able to “sculpt” the AI to generate an image that you want it to generate. You see art pieces now a days that are just a line on a canvas and you call it art, but someone can spend hours at a computer tweaking a prompt slightly to get the AI to generate an image that you envisioned. It is obvious that painting or drawing is more difficult than asking the AI to make a “Walter White with a rainbow background”. If an “artist” had an ant farm and put sugar on the sand to make the ants draw the Mona lisa would that be considered art? The artist provided a prompt and the ants did all of the work. I think anyone that has coded before will agree that coding is an art form in itself, same with managing a company, selling a product, or making an audience laugh. Should it get copyright privileges, I don’t know, but I think it is unfair to label all “AI artists” as fake artists, since art is such a subjective topic.
