Why is the complexity of the process the argument in favor of artistic value? This seems silly to me, because there is nothing artistically valuable in the process of drawing itself. It's just a mechanical process that doesn't require anything sacred from a person. r34 furry drawings have no artistic value, but in their case, for some reason, there are no problems with the fact that their creators call themselves artists. I'll give you an example from the video: drawing a rabbit is not something special, almost any artist can draw it. So why is a rabbit drawn in the traditional way better than a rabbit created using a neural network? The same goes for the drawings of the author of the video. These are just images of characters, their visualization, and I highly doubt that the drawings shown in the video have any deep message, and not just a beautiful image of people. I would also like to note that many artists do not have their own unique style as the author of this video (or their style is determined by habits and convenience, rather than their personality and sense of beauty), and therefore in no way express themselves through their drawings, however, there are also no problems with the fact that they call themselves artists. So what's the problem with AI artists? The essence of visual art, for me, is to express your feelings through a visual image, and for me, AI artists quite fall under this definition. And even if we deny that they are artists of fine art, they are definitely artists in the broadest sense of the word. Personally, I see only their frustration in the hatred of AI on the part of artists due to the fact that now their craft, which they spent a lot of time mastering, has become less relevant and more accessible to others. In addition, I would like to note that the author has in no way refuted the idea that digital art is less valuable than traditional art. Yes, it is also complex, but it is much easier than the traditional one, and therefore, if we evaluate the value of art in terms of its value, then it is flawed in comparison with the traditional one.
