I still don't see why it's any different from "inspiration".
Yes, you can make ai spit out something similar to the original, but you could also trace the original without AI in the first place. Or create fanart.
In fact, as a beginner artist, I find the argument that ai is stealing much more demoralizing than AI itself ever was.
