No no no, Picasso deserves it. He was a pretty trash person.
Anyway these tech bros are ultimately focusing on the wrong thing for art, which, tbf, the vast majority of people do. It's not about the finished product. It's about the process. Making art is one of the things that makes us human. It's a form of communication, a way to express things that words struggle to or can't capture. And I understand - I understand REALLY WELL - the frustration with feeling like you just can't create the expression that you want to because you lack the skill. I'm not a naturally talented artist, I've had to struggle to get anywhere I like with my own art. But the process of that struggle has added depth to my pictures, and has taught me better communication skills in the first place, both with words and pictures. Don't we already have a million stories about how shortcuts don't cut it? Why is it okay to shortcut to a finished product and ignore all the meaning and growth in the process?
I do have one request for you to comment on though. The one argument I struggle to articulate a response to is, "what's the difference between a human looking at art and becoming inspired by it or learning from it without the creator's permission, and AI taking that art and learning from it?" Like, a human learning from/becoming inspired by a piece of art isn't the same thing as AI doing so (for one thing, AI cannot feel inspiration), but I just... Struggle to explain how.
