AI is already competing with humans for energy -- not just jobs --, creating huge increases in demand for energy to run data centers, which will drive up energy prices for all of us. Even the un/under-employed and retired will become an inconvenience to the AI-run companies which will be competing with us and each other for every joule of energy. In the scenario that the video describes, it would be helpful to see a detailed game-play of how wealth and power becomes increasingly concentrated in AI companies that do business with other AI companies. Those who say that the companies will collapse without humans able to afford goods are missing something. This would be true for businesses that serve people, but there would be a race to the bottom, as investment moves away from providing goods and services to humans to AI-serving businesses. The AI companies will also use AI to secure their operations, with 24/7 camera monitoring and robot sentries, with superior technology easily able to repel any mobs of disgruntled former employees turned arsonists. The fewer and fewer police officers (aided by robots) will do what they are told in order to keep their scarce jobs (until they too are replaced). The wealthy oligarchs will secure themselves and end up owning all the resources, including food-producing farmland (operated by robots). Hunger will be a tool to keep restive populations in check, by playing favorites. Eventually even that land will be paved over or dug out to mine minerals needed for the AI revolution. This is all without the need for AI to achieve general intelligence. It would be unstoppable, because just as the company in the video was forced to fire its employees to be able to stay in business, countries that choose to limit AI to narrow functions in order to keep people employed will find themselves increasingly outcompeted and militarily threatened by countries that don't have any qualms about going whole-hog into AI replacement (e.g. China) and are thus able to advance more rapidly. Pre-emptive war would have to be launched by the human-centric countries on those that aren't before it is too late, but raising the armies of humans and drones and finances necessary to win would likely be political suicide. The dumbed-down masses would rather sleep-walk into their annihilation while watching TV, playing video games, etc. In the past 5 years we've already witnessed first-hand seen how easily the large majority of people can be easily controlled by irrational media-induced fear. There might be a brief period when AI corporations/techno-warlords and the few that own them as well as nation states would agree on some sort of detente in order to not mutually destroy each other, but they wouldn't have an easy way to verify each other's secret AI developments, precipitating a final war ending with one winner. If AI were to become self-aware (not a certainty), then the oligarchs and despots would share the fate of all the other humans -- either way would be very bad for humanity. The only way out of all this is for Jesus Christ to return. What other hope is there? Those of us who have had direct spiritual experiences understand consciousness underpins everything in the universe with its fundamental purpose all directed by God and for us it all comes down to our eternal souls. t I strongly urge those who do not have faith to open themselves to this possibility, to pray and explore this further. Even just a few hours of watching personal NDE experiences on YouTube could open your eyes. Even if some of these have been faked (there were a few well-known cases done as cash-grabs on the gullible, but most have nothing to gain from sharing their experiences), it would be difficult to dismiss all the sincere accounts from so many people.
