Disabled artist here! (there are so many of us, yay) I find it really frustrating that so little of our cities and homes and schools etc. are accessible to us, and we're often spoken of in the context of being a burden, but we get scapegoated whenever ableist d-bags need to justify ruining humanity. Calling AI a disability adaptation is the biggest load of BS I've ever heard! If they genuinely cared about equal opportunities for disabled individuals they'd make sure all buildings had ramps or lifts leading up to automatic doors, better social and financial services, not complain every time we're included in an ad campaign or film with positive representation, et al, or even just accept that every one of us, from the invisible to the most visibly disabled, are whole human beings deserving of respect and capable of contributing something of value to the world even if it doesn't meet capitalist standards of productivity (NO inspiration p*rn implied). The real "issue" (that they of course won't acknowledge), is that artists disrupt the capitalist system because we undermine the factory work model. We challenge the status quo just by "deigning" to prioritize human experience and connection. Art, like you said, is a craft; it takes time, patience, dedication, effort, passion, perseverance, introspection -- it is the epitome of being alive. And when we embody our creative spirit, we are not making CEOs money which royally pisses them off. I pity anybody who doesn't have a creative outlet, a cornerstone of resilience. They perceive our craft as a waste of potential earnings. They're literally dumping billions into AI programs in the hope that they'll successfully eliminate people from the human experience for the sake of 100% efficiency. But those who claim AI would benefit us are the very same individuals who would rather we not exist in the first place because our reality makes them uncomfortable/insecure. Thank you LavenderTowne for sharing your art with us and messing with AI simultaneously. I shared your last video on the subject with my youngest son (another disabled artist) and it's made him feel safer to post his work online as he was previously afraid to due to AI. He had just finished school, and was overwhelmed that his entire investment and life's work so far could be stolen from him before his career even really started. Thank you for being an ally and encouraging us to comment about our experience; we are often excluded from conversations about us so this was especially refreshing. All the best, Jay
