I do find it amusing that the attempt to reject the possibility that what AI has created at the moment is "art" has forced a rapid rout back to a more traditional metaphysics of the nature of art. There has always been a debate in the philosophy of art surrounding the importance of the intention of the artist: I have always been in the traditional camp, arguing that art, insofar as it IS art, must be intended by the artist to convey a particular meaning. A postmodernist take on art however rejects this, effectively arguing that whether or not something is art depends upon the way in which it affects those who perceive it... and obviously this makes it far harder for them to deny that AI's are creating art. TLDR it's amusing to watching their ad hoc and bad faith climbdown as they shamelessly ditch postmodernist accounts in favour of ones that could justify the position they want to advocate on AI; as someone who has always found postmodernists to be pseudo-intellectual hacks I'm feasting.
