A singularity is not necessarily tied to AI. It has been see in many other domains like mathematics : where a function becomes undefined or infinite. In your case yes he was inferring about AI singularity, but singularities could be seen in Black holes as well, just the way he was reffering: not able to see beyond event horizon.
