Almost everyone in the comments is straight up equating consciousness with a survival instinct. Sentience is needed for a survival instinct but the reverse is not true. Just because AI is conscious doesn’t mean it will care about its own existence. The urge to survive does not come pre-packaged with intelligence or consciousness.
