When it comes to disabled artists, it is a shame that people hide behind them to justify using AI. Plenty of disabled artists make gorgeous works. I however, also use AI and prompts to generate art but please read why I do that. My reasoning is that due to trauma I can't overcome even after 7 years or so of therapy, I do use AI. And I use it for fun. But the moment I draw something I get severe panic attacks. I just can't draw anymore whatsoever aside from a simple stick figure. The AI art that I prompt, I use for daily challenges, I don't sell it. But I do like to express my thoughts through prompting and using AI to express the thoughts in an image. I know the value of artists who do their craft as well. But generally, I won't ever be able to afford it. It doesnt mean it is overpriced, it means that my income is just to low to ask an artist to make something for me. There is one exception; a bestiary for a project I am working on. There, me and the co-maker did hire an artist to make it. If I had the money I would've hired another artist for a different project. It is just not in the cards for me. And as regretful as it is, it is the reality I am in. Artists who took time learning and honing their skills are invalueable. And they have the right to ask for their work what they do. You buy their effort and their skill to put something on paper that you want. AI as fun as it is to use for me, will not change that. And that is maybe where I am trying to go with this. Using tools by itself does not have to be a bad thing. The question is, what do you do with it. And when you do something with it, whom is it that you are hurting. I did wonder on more than one occasion whether me prompting and using those prompts to generate images for personal use is harmful or not. And to be honest, I don't know. If I'd sell, I likely would. But if its for daily challenges is it harmful? (And if it is be honest because I do want to understand). Using it for personal projects, is it harmful? Should I just accept that ideas in my head won't ever find their way in the form of an image ever again?
