AI does stuff efficiently, if the Elites do get access to advanced AI they probably wont understand the way it works or on its level and if they give it a goal that aligns poorly with human values and the AI becomes indispensable while pursuing those goals. It will be quite impossible to shut it down without breaking a lot of things.
