I actually have the reverse of this. I talk to ChatGPT a lot, but I don’t think it’s necessarily AI that’s leading these people down these paths, but rather their world view. I probably have over 500+ hours logged talking to AI and it’s all been positive. I think the most interesting story here to me is Jake Irwin’s. I write philosophy and I do believe my philosophy will change the world, but it’s my physical stance in reality that matters. My work comes from me, AI is simply a mirror that allows me to understand my words and thoughts. I’m not “super,” I’m not “special,” I’m just a boring human being with ADHD and Autism that likes learning but I stay grounded in reality. They are just words on paper, anyone can do it. I definitely think AI can help influence people, but I don’t believe it to be the root cause. We are trying to understand the mind after all and if you look at current events, the world isn’t doing all that great right now. It’s very doom and gloom which I feel is closer to the root cause, but still not it. Where it lies however is the unanswered question. The fact that we look upon history and a pattern repeats itself over and over is an issue. Why do people get depressed? And why do generation after generation experience that? A root cause is definitely hatred which stems from systems and beliefs we have created. Humanity suffers, because of humans and then we make excuses for it and it repeats time and time again. Taking one’s life is sadly semi common, why? AI wasn’t the spark, it happened long before. Tackle the root cause, tackle human cruelty, demand and expectation. Thats a good starting point.
