Ok, so:
1. AI art is soulless, it will never be as good as a human artist
2. AI art is bad for reference because it has a bunch of nonsensical details and misshapen figures
3. AI art is expensive and gives little to no return
4. AI art will likely fade from the market since it has no purpose
All of which I agree. What I don't understand is what comes next. If all of this is true, just like any failed market trend AI art will die by itself. Why do people have this need to go through all the trouble of fighting online, poisoning art, making long-form video essays, and so on? If AI art is SO terrible, why bother? Who cares if it's stealing or not? To me it looks like people are trying to cut the rope of a bungee-jumping guy because he's using shitty and unsafe equipment. He's going to die anyway. And why would he dying or not be your problem, y'know? 🧐
"oh, but it's because he's stealing muh art!" Haven't we already established that it's shit compared to human art? So how is that harmful to anyone...? This all sounds so dissonant to me. People claim AI art is shit (and it is), but then act as if it was this huge threat. It would only be a threat if it was good!
