Hello, writer here. This reminds me of a time when someone said, “I just use AI to help me with descriptions. It’s too much money to pay someone to help me with them.” Not the exact words, but it was along those lines. I happen to be someone who thought this a long time ago because my way with words is usually poor. I used AI to make my descriptions stand out more, but doing so caused issues for my story. Namely, I felt like the soul of it had been ripped out and I scrapped the whole chapter I tried “improving.” Instead of cheating with AI, I looked at references from books and was able to figure out what my problem was (I added too many unnecessary words). Now, I compare my old writing style to the new one and I’m really happy with the improvements I made. Had I continued using AI, I would never have learned this and improved my craft. It would have felt like artificial progress. So, it does frustrate me when people try to defend the use of AI in these creative fields. All it shows is these people don’t care to learn. They don’t want to put in the years of experience to get better at art or writing. AI is their excuse to not put in effort. It’s really infuriating they’d try to justify this by saying how it’s more accessible despite actual references being everywhere. I really appreciate you addressing this in your video!
