My girlfriend sent me what she thought was a clip of the late Chester Bennington singing some song, but being a massive Linkin Park fan I thought "something's off with this, and how/why would LP have covered a song I never even heard of?"
Turns out, it's slop... An AI-generated "poem" that was infinitely re-posted on Instagram and TikTok, and by some happenstance fed into a gen-AI Chester Bennington voice generator... I can sort of forgive the necromantic desire for Chester to cover a real, actual song he may well have chosen to cover while he was alive, but having an AI Chester singing an AI-slop song and portraying it as real... That's disgusting.
I truly wish I could hear Chester sing Adele's Hello and not just Rolling In the Deep, but that's not the one Chester chose to cover in his life, and we live in a world where we'll just have to live with that.
