Same issue in the writing world. As an established writer it grinds my teeth for all the reasons you have explained. A single novel can take me three to five years to write and then to have it used without my consent to inform AI written work that is then sold is hard to deal with. A full novel series can take ten years of hard work or more, and frankly it is not free for anyone to use without my say so.... But that is just what AI is doing, and to all those that say, "Well you just read other work and wrote your own," you know nothing of the creative process. Yes, we are informed by those that came before us, but my work is my own, my work is my own art, and my own imagination, not a direct soulless rip off through machine learning.
