It seems to me, (from my layman perspective), that the two main factors that determine the good vs the harm that ai can cause, depends on whether it's used as a crutch and a shortcut for complex tasks, or if it's used to enhance the process of executing complex tasks for those that already have a basic understanding of the task at hand. Just recently, I used AI to help me diagnose a possible electrical issue related to a sensor in my car, but ultimately, I had to locate and test the wire/circuit in question. It saved me lots of time thumbing through a Haynes manual for the correct voltages. A loose comparison (regarding current concerns stated in this video) could be how it's important to learn the basics in math (like times tables, etc, before beginning to use a calculator. Because of modern calculators, almost no one uses sliderules anymore. There's just really no need for them now. So, in conclusion, how ai affects the average person depends on whether it's used as a crutch in place of basic skills or if it's used as a tool to enhance productivity after the individual is well versed in the basics of the task at hand.
