The bigger picture is why are we even considering autonomous cars?
Taking away yet another freedom, Once all these cars are communicating with each other, They will be able to track everyone on the planet at all times!
Some people like to just get in their car and go for a random drive/cruise on weekends, Not set some fkn destination where a computer will drive you to.
Humans are random creatures, Sometimes you will see a sign saying something is on sale so you stop and go have a look, computer will still be trying to drive you to the previous set destination.
All I see is more distractions as people are fiddling with on board computer to change course or take over control of car making the point of autonomy redundant in the first place.
Not hard to predict future, They will claim all this is in the name of SAFETY and will try and make it law that no one is allowed to drive.
Get your torches and pitchforks ready for what is coming folks, 1984 is getting closer.
Next thing you know they will be allocating areas of a country that will be off limits, People will be crammed into living areas only so much easier to control.
Giving up your freedom of mobility is just another form of slavery.
