This has all changed recently, as autopilot is using the same video trained neural net as fsd. So hundreds of thousands of lines of code that were hand crafted for the majority of driving scenarios are now gone, and replaced with a machine learning trained neural net. Early versions of V13 seem to be very impressive, but time will tell.
