UBI would not work in a system that is based solely on capitalism, but it would work in a system like Norway has where the government does regulate prices in stores based on negotiations with the unions. UBI is required if the world will proceed to a type 1 civilization. :) Natural resources such as oil and gas will be moved away from over time, and new energy sources would be discovered. As well as a more efficient way of utilizing these resources. Energy from Recycling is one option. Dependance on money would also be moved away from, as even the ultra rich believe in a type 1 civilization and are actively trying to work towards it. Their insane wealth will be used to create businesses that would benefit from consumers with automated workers. As AI is further developed and human evolution takes hold, then we will see a shift from being overworked and overly stressed to a more lay back attitude, together with vaccinations against disease it will lead to less strain on the health system meaning cost of medical expenditure would be drastically reduced. So all in all, UBI would benefit greatly to a society trying to evolve to the next level.
