I have been reading about this about AI for years. We would need to change some of our culture and our beliefs about our economy to deal with all the unemployed that are to come... In America, if you get a pink slip, it is actually not your fault, but in our culture being laid off through no fault of your own means "you're lazy and don't want to work" as a default explanation. If you end up homeless, because of the lay off that is not your fault, you are then a bum who deserves to be homeless. A few years ago, I read that to avoid starvation and civil unrest from AI induced unemployment, we would have to establish a basic guaranteed income that would provide money enough for the citizen to afford decent housing and diet. Sure, that kind of future means more free time, but not for the working class. WE don't have the cultural values to want to "give a government hand out" to those displaced by AI. I suggest we TAX and DEMAND these AI companies to pay for living of those they displace!
