The discussion about AI is always confined within the nature of intelligence perceived as IQ in nature first with to some extent physical in nature for robots. All measurable mathematically. But there are many kinds of intelligences, some require a body to be put into action as Dr. Howard Gardner from Harvard University demonstrated. The discussion always also excludes the paranormal phenomena and the most forward-looking speculations of quantum physics that approach the assertions Hindus mysticism. No talks about the "soul" or "Atman" of Hinduism. I'm thinking about the famous quote from Nicolas Tesla: "The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence." I think he was right. If human intelligence originates and is confined in the brain's cells, sure, we are doomed with AI. But, from what I can remember, some quantum physics scientists have envisioned that the brain is only a receptor/transmitter of an intelligence that is outside the body and the physical world. What the mystics and religious people call "soul". AI will be able to access the testimonies of the great mystics of human history and judge of their authenticity. For me, this will make all the difference in its development. What we perceive with our five senses is only a tiny part of what reality is about. The existence of paranormal phenomena urges us to envision a reality that is beyond the prevalent materialistic paradigms of the academic "science".
